Shirestone™ is the latest generation of custom countertop and backsplash material.   For many years everyone had laminate which was a welcome change from tile and the challenge of dealing with grout cleaning--then Corian came along with its seamless appearance, but unfortunately accompanied by scratching and staining challenges--then Granite appeared-- everywhere.  Some homeowners had problems with cracks from hot pots, and staining of surfaces from spilled wine or other products.  Seams were necessary for corners and large areas.  Damages, cracks, chips etc. could not be repaired, and it also must be resealed periodically.  Now there is Shirestone™, which is beautiful, has the look of natural cut and honed stone, and can be custom colored on site to coordinate with your room colors.  It is seamless and highly heat and scratch resistant.  Homeowners and Interior Designers who are looking for something new, different, more durable, and easier to maintain have an exciting new product choice which was featured at the 2007 National Home Builders Show--Shirestone™.  Homeowners planning to update, remodel, or build are ready for something new, something their neighbors don't already have; and each Shirestone™ countertop is beautifully unique.  Visit the Shirestone Web Site

Interior Designers and home owners can now have more choice and direct input in the kitchen counter design process by working with the installer for custom colors and features, even adding last minute color enhancements before the product is sealed.  If you are an interior designer, builder, or homeowner in Acadiana, contact American Marble for more information.

Shirestone Countertops Can Even Be Poured Over Your Existing Laminate Counters!

Shirestonecustom countertops have a unique patented product, a pour-on-surface made from ground stone and other materials. They are poured at the job site to give the counters a seamless finish. One of the advantages is that while Shirestone has the feel of a stone surface, it can be laid right over your old countertops, whether tile or laminate.  Shirestone  is described as being twice as strong as concrete (which is also poured on) and lighter than granite or other stone that comes in slabs.  It is extremely stain resistant and can withstand heat much better than granite.  It is custom colored and sealed on site to your preferences.  You have the option of a high gloss or a dull matte or satin finish.

Additionally, this is an ideal surface for outdoor kitchens and poolside bar tops.  There is no need to worry that it might be stained by the barbecue sauce or other items.  Even Clorox won't damage it.  There is no concern about heat damage from hot food serving dishes.  This product is not damaged by rain and weather elements.  If you have been waiting for something new and different, this it the product for you!
